I can never imagine myself having just one career, I love Interior Design just as much as I love fashion. Last summer in 2013, I started the Rustic Luxe Project for my bedroom. This particular Home Styling renovation was so important to me because it was my own personal bedroom. Your bedroom should be your sanctuary, your safe haven. I wanted to add special elements to my room that reflect my character. Coming home from long stressful days at work, you need to have a serene place where you can just come to relax, rest and recharge.
Here is a run down of all the specs:
- I'm a very hands-on, DIY kinda girl and I wanted to cut out as much labor cost as I could
- I was able to do the ALL painting (walls, ceiling, floors).
- I reused a lot of furniture I had previously over the years, I restored some of them with painting and new hardware. (The white dresser cabinet I picked up from a used local furniture store)
As we go along throughout this post, I will cover details of the room from the paint colors used to furniture and decor that has been passed down from previous generations of my family.
From the beginning planning process, I knew the direction I wanted to go with as far as the theme. It had to have a Warm Global feel to it, that's why I choose the color Tundra, made by Olympic from Lowes. Without a doubt I had to have a Gold Leaf Ceiling. It's just not something you see everyday...well not in a bedroom and I LOVE gold! (See an old post, the origin of my inspiration: Amazing Gold Ceiling )
My sister and I spent one cold Saturday Winter morning in Benjamin Moore looking at a bookshelf full of sample wallpaper. And we came across this Texture-Sparkled Beauty for the accent wall. The lamp and table shown here were my grandmother's which I'm so grateful to have in my possession, these one of a kind vintage pieces were crafted so well and durable.

In this photo you'll see the amazing detail of the Florol Wall-hanging by www.madebyliddy.com. All the wall-hangings are made from pages from re-purpose books. My specific wall hanging was made from the novel Rebecca, by English author Daphne du Maurier.
